Nine Ways the New Lexmark 9-Series Printers and MFPs Support Sustainability

Lexmark is committed to sustainability, and our new 9-Series printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) reflect this commitment. Since printing often represents a missed opportunity for implementing sustainable practices, here are nine ways our latest product line can help you achieve your sustainability goals.

1.Industry-Leading PCR Content

The total post-consumer recycled (PCR) content for all base-model MFPs in the 9-Series is 56% by weight, while the base-model printer has a PCR content of 73%, based on IEEE calculation procedures. These figures lead the industry.

2. Style that Supports the Circular Economy

The stylish design incorporates post-consumer recycled materials, which not only reduces the demand for new raw materials but also extends the lifecycle of existing materials. The darker panels allow for up to 95% use of PCR materials, whereas lighter colours restrict the amount used.

3.Free Supplies Recycling with a Zero-Landfill Policy

Through the Lexmark Cartridge Collection Program (LCCP), recycling your Lexmark toner cartridges and supplies is free. For over 35 years, Lexmark has reclaimed material from these recycled cartridges and has created PCR plastic for over 11 years. We are the largest remanufacturer of Lexmark cartridges worldwide, utilising these sustainable materials.

4.More Efficient Packaging with Less Plastic

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond printers to their packaging. The new volume-efficient designs for the 9-Series improve container efficiency by over 10% compared to previous generations. The new packaging uses 43% less plastic and 50% less single-use plastic, incorporating PCR content whenever possible.

5.Paper Settings That Help Combat Printing’s No. 1 Environmental Impact

Reducing paper usage is the most significant factor in minimizing the environmental impact of printing. Duplex (or double-sided) printing is an easy way to cut paper use by about half compared to traditional one-sided printing. Lexmark devices are automatically set for duplex printing out of the box.

6.Fewer Parts

Having fewer components means less raw material is needed to produce the devices, resulting in a reduced environmental impact.

7.Over 7 Years of Printer Life

All Lexmark devices are intentionally engineered and rigorously tested to last seven or more years on average. A longer lifespan means up to 40% fewer units are produced compared to the typical five-year lifespan that customers may expect

8.Reducing Waste with Technology

All 9-Series printers and MFPs can be integrated into a managed print service or Lexmark Cloud Services engagement through AI-driven supply calculations and IoT sensors that detect and prevent issues before they occur. These technology-based, data-driven solutions can lead to over a 30% reduction in waste materials.

9.Top 1% in Corporate Sustainability

Lexmark has received the prestigious EcoVadis Platinum Rating, placing us in the top 1% of organisations for sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Additionally, we have registered over 200 of our products with Gold and Silver EPEAT ratings, the highest ratings available.

With our focus on sustainability, Lexmark is dedicated to providing eco-friendly printing solutions that not only meet your needs but also benefit the environment.
